Google DeepMind selected BMJ Best Practice as one of two core clinical guideline resources used to support the development, grounding and evaluation of its conversational clinical AI system, AMIE.

As part of the research, 100 BMJ Best Practice topics were used to assess AMIE’s clinical management recommendations against trusted, evidence-based guidance, helping to evaluate the quality and appropriateness of its responses.

High quality, structured clinical knowledge such as BMJ’s clinical intelligence play an important role in the development and evaluation of emerging AI technologies, supporting organisations to build tools that require reliable, evidence based clinical information at their foundation.
